Sustainable Composites from Waste Sulfur, Terpenoids, and Pozzolan Cements

چکیده

Sulfur cements have drawn significant attention as binders because sulfur is a byproduct of fossil fuel refining. that can be formed by the vulcanization elemental and plant-derived olefins such terpenoids are particularly promising from sustainability standpoint. A range terpenoid–sulfur shown compressional flexural properties exceeding those some commercial structural mineral cements. Pozzolans fly ash (FA), silica fume (SF), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) abundant clay resources metakaolin (MK) attractive fines for addition to binders. Herein, we report 10 composites prepared combination sulfur, (geraniol or citronellol), these pozzolans. This study reveals extent which pozzolan sulfur–terpenoid influences their mechanical chemical resistance. The CitS GerS were reaction 90 wt% citronellol geraniol oil, respectively. density fell within 1800–1900 kg/m3 after 24 h submersion in water at room temperature, none materials absorbed more than 0.7 water. strength as-prepared ranged 9.1–23.2 MPa, percentage retained acid challenge (submersion 0.1 M H2SO4 h) 80–100%. Incorporating into already strong (18.8 MPa) had negligible effects on its statistical error measurement. CitS-SF CitS-MK slightly higher compressive strengths 20.4 MPa 23.2 CitS-GGBFS CitS-FA resulted lower 17.0 15.8 In contrast, initially softer (11.7 benefited greatly incorporating hard fines. All derivatives GerS, with GerS-MK having highest 19.8 MPa. several compare favorably required traditional residential building foundations (17 MPa), whereas products disintegrate upon similar challenge.

Hexavalent Chromium Leaching from Cements and Cement Composites

Chromium is one of the 25 most widespread elements in the Earth’s crust and occurs as an indelible non-volatile trace element in raw materials used in cement clinker production (clay, limestone and iron additives in particular). Chromium in raw materials mentioned above is mainly in form of trivalent chromium. Naturally occurring chromium (III) is not initially harmful, since it is chemically s...

Cements in Radioactive Waste Disposal

The use of cement and concrete to immobilise radioactive waste is complicated by the wideranging nature of inorganic cementing agents available as well as the range of service environments in which cement is used and the different functions expected of cement. For example, Portland cement based concretes are widely used as structural materials for construction of vaults and tunnels. These const...

Comparative Analysis of Selected Physicochemical Properties of Pozzolan Portland and MTA-Based Cements

Physicochemical properties of pozzolan Portland cement were compared to ProRoot MTA and MTA BIO. To test the pH, the samples were immersed in distilled water for different periods of time. After the pH analysis, the sample was retained in the plastic recipient, and the electrical conductivity of the solution was measured. The solubility and radiopacity properties were evaluated according to spe...

Technology for Sustainable Agriculture from Waste

Sustainability in agriculture is the primary need of the country, especially for farmers in the society. Sustainable agriculture depends on, a. the quality and quantity of irrigational water used, b. Status of soil in the Land and c. the dimatic conditions of the environment. In most of the locations and for particularly in coastal regions such a ideal conditions could not be possible. From Waste to Resource: A Systems-Based Approach to Sustainable Community Development through Equitable Enterprise and Agriculturally Derived Polymeric Composites

Rural communities in developing countries are most vulnerable to the plight of requiring repeated infusions of charitable aid over time. Micro-business opportunities that effectively break the cycle of poverty in resource-rich countries in the developing world are limited. However, a strong model for global commerce can break the cycle of donor-based economic supplements and limited local econo...
